What is LVDT?
LVDT, which stands for Linear Variable Differential Transformer, is a high-precision displacement transducer that can measure elongation, vibration, object thickness, expansion, strain, and so on. It is characterized by long working life, high sensitivity and resolution, good linearity, low output noise and fast response speed.
The structure of LVDT mainly consists of primary coil, secondary coil, iron core, magnetizing shell, magnetizing end piece and so on. Its working principle, with the general transformer principle, AC power supply for the primary coil, so that it produces an alternating magnetic field, the two secondary coils are connected in series according to the electromotive force reversal, when the iron core is in the center of the two coils, the two secondary coils produced by the induced electromotive force is equal in magnitude and in the opposite direction, the output voltage is 0, when the iron core is away from the middle of the position, the mutual inductance of the two secondary coils between the two changes in the two kinds of induced electromotive force is no longer equal, there is a voltage output. The induced electromotive force is no longer equal, and there is voltage output. Through the precise design of the coil winding method, the output of the sensor becomes linear with the displacement stroke.
什么是双余度?
U.S. military standard MIL-F-9490D on the residual degree (Redundancy) has the following definition: the residual degree is the need for two or more failures, rather than a single failure, in order to cause the establishment of the undesired state of operation of a design method. This design method is mostly used in the regulation and control of on-board equipment. Dual-component LVDT uses two identical components/channels, as shown in the figure below, each of which can perform a given function, and in the event of a failure of one of the components/channels, the other component/channel can still function normally, which meets the requirement of high reliability. For example, it can be applied in the aero-engine numerical control system, which usually needs to measure the displacement signals such as the engine throttle lever angle, the guide vane angle and the metering valve displacement.
ABEK SENSORS Dual Channel LVDTs
ABEK SENSORS's HT series of dual-channel LVDT linear displacement transducers are highly reliable LVDT sensors developed specifically for aerospace applications. The housing is encapsulated in a monolithic stainless steel process for excellent corrosion protection. They can be used at altitudes of up to 10,000 meters for continuous and stable operation.
HT series dual-channel LVDT position sensor adopts double residual design, hot backup work. It has the advantages of high precision, high repeatability, high reliability, high environmental adaptability, high channel consistency, low channel cross-interference shock-resistant design, wear-resistant, ultra-long-life working temperature range.
Dual-channel LVDT position sensors are mainly used in aircraft throttle pedals, electric servos, fuel controllers, UAV flight control systems, and valve position feedback.
