ABEK SENSORS' high-temperature LVDT position sensors can be used in applications in extreme temperature environments where other position sensing technologies, such as encoders, magneto strictive sensors and potentiometers, would not survive.
ABEKSENSORS' standard AC LVDT sensors can operate at temperatures up to 220°C, while customized linear position sensors can operate at temperatures up to 538°C, thus providing sensors with high reliability over a wide range of temperatures in challenging applications such as in nuclear reactors (inward valve position detection, housing bolt tension), chemical processes (valve position in petrochemical plants), materials testing laboratories (sample position monitoring), power plants (steam valve position), downhole oil drilling (tool orientation, borehole contouring, mechanical testing) and jet engines (valves located near the engine core).
ABEK SENSORS' high-temperature radiation-resistant sensors are also commonly used in applications such as spent fuel rod inspection, nuclear fuel assembly inspection, high-energy physics, and neutron radiation environments.
All ABEK SENSORS linear position sensors feature frictionless operation due to the absence of a physical component between the housing and the core, excellent accuracy and repeatability, and a virtually unlimited service life.
LVDTs are available in measurement ranges from ±0.6 mm to ±250 mm. Abek sensors offers the SCAC06 series of LVDT signal conditioners paired with AC LVDTs that can operate in extreme temperatures and can communicate digitally via an RS-485 2-wire multipoint bus. The AC sensor operates in high temperature environments while the signal conditioner is located in a non-volatile area to increase system life and reliability. The signal conditioner can display the output on a computer-based data acquisition system for process control or automated statistics.ABEK SENSORS designs radiation-resistant LVDT displacement sensors for a wide range of nuclear radiation applications.
