Underwater valve and actuator control
In subsea pipeline systems, underwater production units, LVDTs are integrated into valve actuators or hydraulic actuators to provide real-time, accurate feedback on valve opening or actuator piston position. This is critical to accurately control flow and ensure safe production.

Rudder and airfoil control for submarines and submersibles
Used to measure the rudder angle of a submarine and the deflection angle of the horizontal and vertical wings of a submersible, the LVDT provides highly reliable position feedback that is critical to ensuring stable maneuverability and attitude control of underwater vehicles.

Remotely Operated Vehicles and Underwater Robotic Arms
On ROVs and AUVs, LVDTs are often installed at the joints of the robotic arm to accurately measure the telescopic or rotational displacement of each joint of the robotic arm to realize refined underwater operations such as gripping, welding, sampling, etc.

Subsea platform and structure monitoring
Used to monitor small deformations, settlements or displacements of underwater platforms, mooring systems or pipeline support structures. Through long-term monitoring, the state of structural health can be assessed and catastrophic failures can be prevented.

Wave energy converters and tidal turbines
In these underwater renewable energy devices, LVDTs are used to measure the displacement of hydraulic cylinders or the relative position of moving parts to optimize energy capture efficiency and to monitor the operation of the device under dynamic loads.
