Este nivel de tolerancia solo puede estimarse, en el mejor de los casos.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><p>Cuando la energ\u00eda de la radiaci\u00f3n incide sobre un objeto, aunque los niveles de energ\u00eda de las distintas fuentes de radiaci\u00f3n sean iguales, el alcance del da\u00f1o causado puede variar considerablemente en funci\u00f3n del tipo de radiaci\u00f3n (como los rayos gamma o los neutrones), y los mecanismos que provocan el da\u00f1o tambi\u00e9n pueden diferir de manera fundamental.<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><p>Existen dos m\u00e9todos para cuantificar esas diferencias:<\/p><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><ol><li>Determinar la densidad de flujo de radiaci\u00f3n que el dispositivo puede soportar sin sufrir da\u00f1os irreversibles transitorios;<\/li><li>Determinar el flujo total integrado que un dispositivo puede absorber antes de sufrir da\u00f1os debidos a un \u00abfallo por envejecimiento\u00bb provocado por la radiaci\u00f3n.<\/li><\/ol><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Es fundamental distinguir claramente entre los conceptos de densidad de flujo y flujo total integrado.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>No existe una correlaci\u00f3n directa entre el flujo de neutrones y la radiaci\u00f3n gamma. Suponiendo que la disipaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda sea la misma para diferentes fuentes de radiaci\u00f3n, la energ\u00eda absorbida por un dispositivo variar\u00e1 en funci\u00f3n de su secci\u00f3n eficaz de absorci\u00f3n; si se intenta convertir estos valores bas\u00e1ndose en niveles de da\u00f1o equivalentes, la incertidumbre aumentar\u00e1 a\u00fan m\u00e1s debido a las diferencias
